Hanabi Light

Tokyo designer Oki Sato came up with an extremely clever idea for a lamp made from shape memory alloy strips placed around a lightbulb. When the light is turned on, the bulb heats up and the petal-like strips will start to spread as though they are blooming. Oki Sato works for Nendo, a Japanese company that always likes to throw in a little nature surprise. Hanabi appropriately means "fireworks."
