Lucie Rie: Modern Ceramicist

You may notice a flux of ceramic posts lately, this is because I have taken up a workshop to learn the basics. It's been pretty much love at first.. pinch?
This post here is showing the work of Lucie Rie, a ceramicist that was trained in the Vienna at the time where the modernist movement started to grow. In her late 30s Rie moved to London where she employed the wonderfully talented Hans Coper, who at that time had no experience in clay. At the time, Rie's work was seen as too modern for it's straight and purpose-filled silhouettes. I personally love the dripping edges of the bowls and the somewhat comical forms.
